We Are...

Streamlining and redefining our operations in 2023, focusing on the food insecure in McDonough County. We are seeing a huge increase in the number of people we are serving. We are now serving more people in McDonough County than we served at any time in our short two-year history.

Piloting a garden operation in partnership with the Macomb Community Gardens. We are also partnering with a local producer in a pilot to provide additional fresh produce. We strive to provide local whole foods to people and are currently growing tomatoes, peppers, and more.

Primarily focused on providing quality food for those in need, and work very hard with our food providers to get wholesome food and produce.

Our educational programs are on hold as we reorientate to our storefront operation. We are creating the necessary systems and processes in our storefront to ensure that we help address the critical food need McDonough County. We hope to restart our education programs in the future.

Our Programs

Store-front Pantry

Our storefront pantry is a choice-based pantry which means that our users can come in and shop for what they want from the different food that we offer. We make an effort to provide a variety for each category of food: fruit, vegetables, frozen meat and veggies, cereal and more. We also are attempting to provide healthy choices of food, but still carry food that people want.

We are open to McDonough County residents, but do require our users to register and meet IDHS income guidelines.

Our storefront is open Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:00 - 5:00, at 133 West Jackson St., Macomb.

Garden Pilot

This summer we are piloting a garden project with the goal of determining if it makes sense for us to try and grow some of our own food for the pantry. The Macomb Community Gardens is allowing us to have a garden plot at their gardens. We are keeping it simple this summer, growing tomatoes, peppers and a few other items.

We are also partnering with a local grower, Phelps Farms, in a pilot to provide additional produce.
